Aristotle’s Poetics

1 – Exposition / protasis = introduction to the setting

2 – Inciting incident = The hook

3 – Rising action / epistasis = build up

4 – Climax – the big boy part

5 -Reversal / peripeteia – protagonist fortune changes from good to bad

6 –  Hamartia = fatal flaw /  misjudgement

7 – Hubris = pride, arrogance.

8 – Falling action / catastasis = follows climax

9 – catastrophe = a sudden event that usually comes with suffering

10 – denouement = conclusion of a plot

11 – recognition / anagnorisis = the change from ignorance to knowledge

12 – catharsis = the purification of emotions he process of releasing, and thereby providing relief from, strong or repressed emotions
